Once logged in, the base currency drop down can be found in the top right hand side of your tool bar.

This option allows you to select what currency you will manage your account and trade with. It is common practice to trade assets based off other assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Australian Dollars or US Dollars.

Australian Dollar Traders

Swyftx is an Australian based platform and has elected to set Australian Dollars as the default base currency for trading with. The Australian dollar base asset operates a little differently to the US Dollars and Bitcoin options. Notably, it is View Only. What we mean by this is that even though you see Australian Dollar values for all your balances and trades, on the back end, we are still executing your trades against US Dollars and holding US Dollar balances. Consider the Australian Dollars as a convenience option that makes the trading experience more homely and relatable. We go into depth in this article explaining how this is a great USP (unique selling point) for Swyftx, and how it empowers our users with more liquidity, lower spreads and better fees.

US Dollar Traders

This is useful if you have a preference to trade the markets based off their USD value. You can deposit AUD which will be converted to USD automatically. All trades and balances shown in the app will now be in USD.

Bitcoin Traders

If you're a Bitcoin trader, and prefer to track your account in Bitcoin, same principal applies. Simply fund your account with Bitcoin either via deposits or purchases using Fiat and then view your balances and trade all your favourite assets with Bitcoin.
